Full course description
This introductory workshop is designed for K-8 teachers of all subject areas who are eager to explore the exciting world of Scratch programming. Scratch is a visual programming language that empowers young people to create their own interactive stories, games, and animations. This hands-on course will provide educators with a foundational understanding of the Scratch interface, core programming concepts, and pedagogical strategies for integrating Scratch into their classrooms. Participants will learn how Scratch fosters creative thinking, systematic reasoning, and collaborative skills – essential competencies for students in the 21st century. The workshop will utilize a blended learning approach, combining engaging synchronous sessions, flexible independent work, and collaborative small group activities to ensure a comprehensive and supportive learning experience. By the end of this workshop, educators will feel confident in using Scratch to enhance student engagement, develop computational thinking skills, and bring creativity to their teaching across various disciplines.
